To start off, we have the “Scary Guy Cadet” hat from Metallica. Simple Black Pillbox style cap with Metallica’s iconic logo embroidered on the front as well as a skull/crossbones screen-print done in grey on the side.

Iron Maiden

Couldn’t forget about Iron Maiden. This rad black fitted cap features a screenprint of Eddie on right front panel spilling onto the bill of the hat with the band’s signature logo embroidered on the left panel.

Parkway Drive

Here’s a super snazzy snapback from Parkway Drive.  Embroidered in whiteis their logo with another logo reading, “Parkway Drive” on the right of the snap. Teal Bill and snap closure.

Bullet For My Valentine

This Bullet For My Valentine Fitted Cap is 3-D embroidered on the front in their famous blood drip logo in red, with two pistols embroidered on the back in grey because one bullet isn’t enough.

Linkin Park: Still Crawling in 2014

Linkin Park was in heavy rotation on my first generation iPod mini back in the middle school days, as it was for almost any teen growing up in the late 90′s/ early 2000′s and they haven’t slowed up their pace ever since.

With five platinum albums already under Linkin Park’s belt and their recent KMFA Day set, they’re kicking off a new tour today for their upcoming album, “The Hunting Party”, releasing June 17th, in Lisbon, Portugal at the Rock in Rio Festival. From there you can actually stream coverage of the concert today live. You can also pre-order “The Hunting Party” deluxe package exclusively on Linkin Park’s website, in the meantime.

On top of the venues they’re playing on their album promotion tour this june, they will be teaming up with 30 seconds to Mars with special guest, AFI joining them for the Carnivores Tour that kicks off on August 8th, in West Palm Beach, FL. With Linkin Park still going strong, it was only right they keep the band merchandise rolling, and they did just that releasing a wide range of merch from custom designed Linkin Park “Jungle X Boots” to even their own Stage Light music production software from Open Labs featuring exclusive sounds from Mike Shinoda and the gang’s personal sound library. Be sure to check out their live footage from Rock in Rio Festival today, and let us know if you’ll be making it to any of Linkin Park’s shows this summer in the comments below.

Riot Fest! 2014

There’s Gonna Be Riot!

Another music festival is upon us folks. Well, actually there’s a bunch    going on right now, but this one is different. This is the music festival, people that don’t even like music go to and still have a blast. Now, that’s not to take away from the super-de-duper shows you can see while attending any of the three venues, there’s just so much to freakin’ do at these festivals! This ain’t no joke! This is Riot Fest 2014 dude!

Attractivites

The “riot starters” or whoever the hell it is that’s in charge of running this damn thing, are kicking off the whole sha-bang in Toronto (That place is cold, yo). I heard this year is the 10th anniversary of Riot Fest, so I’m willing to bet there’s gonna be some extra special shit taking place at the three different venues. One of Toronto’s “extra features” is an expo, which really could mean a million different things that will be going on at the Festival. I’m not 100% sure, since they’re too cool to post any info regarding this “expo” of theirs(or any of the venue-features for that matter), but my guess is that you can possibly expect some band merchandise booths, some un-healthy food trucks (aka the best kind of food trucks), and most likely a menu of “hand selected” hipster craft beers.

For the rest of us that don’t feel like flying to Canada and dealing with International Customs just to see a show, you can either hit up the festival in Chicago, or watch the shows in Denver. The U.S. venues are going to be better anyways, having a lot more bands/artists because they probably don’t want to be subjected to all that Canadian Border crap either.

Being that Chicago is Riot Fest’s original location since 2005, it should be jam-packed with extra surprises this year. Chicago’s “extra feature” is a freakin’ carnival! So this year, while you wait for Macaulay Culkin and The Pizza Underground to creep you out with their “sweet jams”, you can enjoy all kinds of food, games, and theme park rides. Just don’t eat too much, or you’ll be redecorating the ground when you’re on the rides.  Now, if you’re into the “weirder side” of the whole “carnival scene” I suggest going to the Denver show. There, you will be able to watch crazy people suspending bowling balls attached to their ear gauges, sword swallowers and other weird shit alike. Also, something important to remember… Please allow yourself an allotted time slot for bathroom use before the show. It would really be a shame if you remembered the A Day To Remember show as a day you didn’t really want to remember. Hurry up and grab your tickets if you haven’t already, and be sure to let us know which shows you’re most looking forward to seeing in the comments below.

BAD BRAINS: 35 Years Of Punk

Bad Brains

After posting my previous post on my top 5 picks for best punk rock band t-shirt list, I realized I had left out considerably, one of the greatest bands to ever do it. The Rastafarian pioneers of the punk scene, Bad Brains.

The Kings of Merch

Though they’ve branched out from the punk-specific genre fusing all kinds of funk, reggae, and even hip-hop vibes to their sound, the D.C. born (and banned) group has always stayed true to their edgy punk look through their band merchandise and signature logo. After the recent 35th anniversary of the band, they have been coming out with all kinds of new merchandise from sunglasses and snowboard goggle collabs with Arnette, to limited edition guitars, and even their own hot sauces, Bad Brains is still going stronger than ever. They’re no newcomer to doing clothing collaborations either, having done several Vans collabs as well as a collection with Supreme NYC back in 2008.

Pictured above is their Limited Edition ASG Guitar collaboration as well as their eyewear collection with Arnette.

With Bad Brains still currently touring, there’s really no telling what we can expect next from the group that came together like the Ninja Turtles. While we wait on the new-new, I’ll show you one of my personal favorite band tees of theirs that we currently have at Dress Code.

Rasta Capitol Tee

The thing I love most about this specific shirt is the multiple color gradience within this graphic of their iconic Capitol Building Logo. From far away you might just see green yellow and red, but if you look closely you probably won’t even be able to count how many different shades of color there are. Definitely an eye-catching tee to wear. Fellow fans of BB, share with us your personal collection of gear in the comments below and keep rockin’.

Top 5 Punk Rock Tees

Top 5 Punk Rock Band Tees

To all the grown men in the world still rockin’ their knee high creepers and dying their mowhawk spikes green, this one’s for you! This is, without further adieu, the top 5 Punk Rock Band Tees…

1. Ramones

Johnny and the gang probably are the reason you’re wearing a leather jacket and you didn’t even know it. For some reason,  one of the first things that pops into my head when I think Punk Rock, is the image of the Ramones in some destroyed jeans and leather jackets, perhaps enjoying a cigarette in an alley behind the venue. So I made them #1, featuring their “pinhead skull” tee.

2. Misfits

We’ve seen the black and white Misfits “fiend” tees since the first time they were ever printed. So why not break away from the rest, and roll with the heather orange “Subway stencil” tee. Here we see the same classic fiend, given a “graffiti stencil” look. What’s more punk than graffiti and Misfits? Nothing really.

3. Dead Kennedys

Couldn’t forget about the California Kids. The Dead Kennedys were part of the “pioneer generation” that helped solidify the new music genre of Punk Rock. I really enjoy all the detail within this graphic, so I chose their “Bedtime for Democracy” Tee.

4. Bad Religion

You weren’t a true punk if you didn’t have the “shit kickers” on your feet. So I figured I’d go with the “up the punx” tee from The Dead Kennedys featuring a pair of the iconic Dr. Martens Boots with their classic “crossbuster” logo on the toe.

5. Casualties

Casualties. Regardless if you love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re apart of punk rock history. Figured I’d leave the end of the list open to your discretion with their “No Liberty Here” tee. Be sure to let us know how much you hate/love the Casualties or any of the other bands I chose in the comments below.

Top 5 Metal Band T-Shirts

Metal Tees

What’s up all you Metal-heads out there!  I’m going to quickly go over my top five picks for Metal tees here at Dress Code. I’ve got a feeling some of you might have rocked your face off too hard at a show once or twice before, and possibly even ruined your favorite (insert band name here) shirt in the process. Fear not rocker, this post was made just for you!

1. Iron Maiden

To start us off, I chose Iron Maiden. For those of you that may not know, I specifically chose this graphic because this was the cover of they’re debut self-titled album in 1980 when the world was first introduced to “Eddie”.

2. Black Sabbath

With their recent collaboration with Converse creating a big buzz, I felt it was only right to pay homage to the pioneers of metal, Black Sabbath. Here is the album cover to their fourth album they released, that they obviously spent a good amount time to come up with titled, “Vol. 4“.

3. Metallica

This wouldn’t even be a list if Metallica wasn’t on it. Being that they’re one of the most iconic Metal bands in history, I felt it was only right to pick the famous album cover art to their 1984 classic.

4. Pantera

This time we have a sweet long sleeve tee featuring artwork from Pantera’s 5th released album from 1990, “Cowboys From Hell“. R.I.P. Dimebag Darrell.

 5. Slayer

And last but certainly not least, we have the cherry to put a top our Metal-ice cream sundae, Slayer. Featured on the front blown up the entire length of the shirt, is their infamous eagle pentagram design and signature logo-type in red.

Time to Rock!

I hope you enjoyed my top 5 Metal tees list, and if you didn’t, then go make your own list bo-zo! And if you still need to replace that old, ratty “Justice For All” tee, you know where to find us. Let us know YOUR top picks for metal tees in the comments below!

Vans Warped Tour 2014

Vans Warped Tour 2014

Music Festival season is already in FULL effect, so I thought I’d try  to keep all you little hipsters entertained with the 20th Anniversary Vans Warped Tour while you’re searching for an “untapped” coffee shop with wifi in between “finding yourself” at Coachella and your next festival outing…

Northern Exposure

So, I personally find this to be a somewhat special occasion for multiple reasons. One, being the obvious fact that it’s the 20th Anniversary of Vans Warped Tour, but the BIGGEST reason is that this year for the first time ever, The Road to Warped Tour (aka the first venue/date after the kick-off party every year) will be in my hometown of Anchorage, Alaska. That’s right people, the ice-box is on the come up, and what better way to prove it than hosting  one of the biggest music tours/festivals in America. On June 11th 3OH!3, Yellowcard, some group called The Devil Wears Prada, Less Than Jake, and Falling In Reverse will be playing the Anchorage venue.

For the AZ gang, Warped Tour rolls through Mesa on June 18th. The rest of you “lower 48-ers” can find your local dates/lineups on the Official Warped Tour site.

Fash-on

We all know you will be able to purchase the band merchandise sold at your show that EVERYONE THERE will have on, so why not plan ahead and stand out from the crowd with some unique band tees from us! Besides, it’s always more fun to come up with your own style or outfit, instead of rocking the generic “hey, this proves I was there” band/event tee. Plus, you might get lost from your group of friends, as you start blending into a giant sea of matching t-shirts. Get your tickets if you haven’t already, and be sure to let us know  which date you will be at and the show you’re most looking forward to in the comments below.

Top 5 Rap/Hip-Hop T-shirts

Freestyle, Never Written

I’m gonna keep the band merchandise rolling and give you guys my top 5 picks for Rap/Hip-hop tees  at Dress Code right now. Now remember kids, these are my personal choices so if you don’t like them, go grab some tees from some of the other artists we carry. I am just personally not one of the million overly-emotional Drake fans (sorry). So here we go folks, my top 5 rap tees…

1. RUN DMC

Even though they aren’t my first pick, it would be highly disrepectful to not acknowledge the most influential group in hip-hop history, RUN DMC. I also felt it was only right to pick their signature logo t-shirt. For you youngsters out there, this t-shirt is the reason you’re even able to listen to  people like Tyga and 2Cornz today (yes I did that on purpose). And if ya don’t know, now ya know…

2. Wu-Tang Clan

“UP FROM THE 36 CHAMBERS!!!!” It’s my favorite group to ever be assembled in music history, the Wu-Tang Clan.  One of the most iconic logos, period. Even people that don’t listen to Wu can tell you exactly what that golden “W” stands for as soon as they see it. So why not just keep it classic and rock with the OG Logo Tee.

3. Public Enemy

Sticking to the roots of hip-hop culture, my third pick for the list is Public Enemy. Chosen for Spike Lee’s classic joint, “Do The Right Thing” and also being voted their biggest song in the groups history, I thought our “Fight the Power” t-shirt was perfect.

4. Eminem

Whether you love him or hate him, I couldn’t bring myself to leave the crazy white dude of rap off my list. And since he’s been known for his controversial antics since he first stepped on the scene back in ’97 (god that makes me feel like an old man) I figured the “finger horns” tee was on point.

5. Beastie Boys

Respectfully finishing off my list, I chose the dudes known to let the beat… “MMMMM, DROPP!” The Beastie Boys. Now instead of going with their classic, “Licensed to Ill” t-shirt, I chose my personal favorite album of theirs, “Hello Nasty“. Plus I figured I’d at least TRY to give myself some relevance with the young little whipper snappers.

Kickin’ It Old School

Hope you guys have enjoyed my picks. Let me know your favorite song from one of the 5 artists I chose. And if you’re too young to know who any of the artists are on this list, you should probably be asking your mother for internet permission to begin with.

Big Guava 2014

Big Guava Music Festival

“What the hell’s a Big Guava?!”

Some of you hipsters may already know, but most of you (myself included) probably didn’t know about one of the next up and coming music festivals to hit the scene that’s coming up next month, called Big Guava Music Festival. This three day, multiple-stage festival in Tampa is going to be like many others in the fact that it showcases “everyone’s favorite artists” like Foster The People or Slightly Stoopid, but what really makes the BG unique is that it’s focus isn’t solely on the music, but more so the entire experience of the event. From theme park rides to food trucks, and even a wide selection craft beers on hand, the Guava’s got it all. But what should you wear to this festival? Is it leather-fringe headband and “mens” Speedo acceptable like Coachella? Let’s all hope not…

Big Guava Fashion: What to Expect

The nice thing about Big Guava being a “brand-new festival” is that the tickets are relatively cheap. For just 75 big ones (per day) you can go see the entire lineup scheduled for your ticketed day of the Festival. So that means you can hopefully have some money left over to buy a new outfit or two for the big date(s). What can you expect people to be wearing? Well, like any public gathering of “people” you will always see at least a few wild ones, especially if there’s music and booze involved. But to maybe help you get started, I’ll quickly touch on a couple trend predictions that I have for you.

Bucket Hats

Just as I had predicted in my previous Coachella post, bucket hats are becoming a major trend among the music fest-goers. Something about the 360 degree sun protection is just so “in” right now.

Even Justin Bieber in all of his lameness tried wearing one….

Camouflage Patterns

From girls in ratty over-sized army jackets, to the dudes with their digi-camo tank top “matching” their woodland cargo shorts, I’m predicting that you can definitely expect to see a lot of camo-print garments around the venue. But please folks, try to limit your outfit to one pattern only. You don’t wanna be in multiple fake branches of the military.

Camo is cool, but please don’t drown yourself in it. You will attract people like this and unless that’s what you want, I’d stop now while you still have your dignity. And your shirt on…

Get Your Gear Right

Now that I’ve kindly pointed you in a direction away from nipple piercings, it’s time to shop. Whether you’re feeling militant, festive, or a perfect combination of both, Dress Code always holds you down with the sweet sales and band merchandise for all your favorite artists. Be sure to let us know how you’ll be piecing together your concert outfits in the comments below.

Cage The Elephant 2014 Tour – Show in Tucson

Cage The Elephant was one of the victims of Coachella’s insane over the top energy just before their show in Tucson.

CageTheElephant

The Bowling Green Kentucty based band was nice enough to make a pit stop for a meet and greet thrown by yours truly Dress Code Clothing for some lucky fans before their show later that night here in Tucson.

Cage the elephant meet and greet 1

Meeting the band was so sick . I still remember when  Beavis & Butthead did  a hilarious commentary on their music video  “In One Ear.” What was really sweet about this meet & greet was the band came around & mingled with the fans like average joes. I got to ask them what some of there favorite sets were at Coachella  and just chill. They even shared some of there pop rock goodies with me. All around they were a really cool bunch of dudes.

Cage the elephant meet and greet 2

The show they played later that night at the famous Rialto Theater was a sight to see . The show  was sold out to a whopping 1200 screaming fans.
