New at Dress Code: Spayground Backpacks

Back to School shopping is now in full effect which couldn’t be a better time and excuse to grab yourself a new backpack for the new school year. Not to mention, the new Sprayground backpacks and bags just hit our webstore in perfect timing for back to school shopping. You can check out the entire collection using the link above but I figured I would show a few my own personal picks from the new collection. Check ‘em out.

Varsity Shark Chenille Backpack

This Varsity Shark Backpack features a chenille shark face similar to that logo material on your letterman jacket with somewhat of a militant look like a B-52 Bomber plane. Features a large zipped inner pocket as well as a sleeve for that new laptop you just got for school.
Jewels Backpack

Go in on your first day shining with this Sprayground Jewels backpack. Featuring very detailed imagery of an array of gold jewelry from “rolex style” watches, diamond encrusted Jesus-piece pendants, and thick gold Cuban link chains. This backpack has padded mesh straps too, so all that bling won’t weigh you down. (also available in a duffle bag design)
Cut & Sew Backpack

Keep it classy (no pun intended) on your first day back to school with Sprayground’s Cut & Sew backpack. Features a black “croc” print with gold zipper/zipper track and outer zip pocket.

Check out the rest of the new Sprayground collection here, and let us know which piece you’re picking up for school or travel  in the comments below.

Bucket Hats at Dress Code

Bucket hats have been around for decades, being the signature hat of Gilligan (Gilligan’s Island) as well as Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and more recently have made a strong “comeback” within the streetwear and music industries. You can find a collection of bucket hats in various materials and patterns within almost any brands’ line nowadays. You can also find a few different variations of this popularized accessory from the classic bucket, to bell hats, and even “safari” hats. Here’s a good portion of the buckets in stock at Dress Code Clothing. Enjoy!

Akomplice Blue Dialation Bucket

From Akomplice’s Summer 2014 delivery, we have the bucket hat from their “Blue Dialation” Collection. A cool one color “tye dye” pattern in a navy blue color overtop a white bucket hat.
Volcom Estrada Bell Hat

From Volcom, comes the Estrada Bell Hat. Notice the difference between these and the Akomplice above. A similar crown construction to a snapback, with the button and five stitched panels and air-holes with a strip of fabric wrapping around the base connecting to the “bill”.
Crooks & Castles Headliner Bucket

Here’s one of Crooks & Castles Bucket Hats from their Summer Delivery. The “Headliner” is made from a soft brushed polyester fabric featuring an “all over print” of C&C in a very “Vogue-esque” form.
Famous SAS Buckets

Even Famous hopped onto the Bucket Hat trend. Above we have the “Homegrown” and “Paisley bucket hats. Both with “all over print” patterns with skulls into the design.

In Memory of Johnny Winter

The iconic Blues Guitarist, Singer, songwriter and producer, Johnny Winter, unexpectedly passed last week on July 16th 2014 at age 70, just two days after his performance at the Cahors Blues Festival in France. Winter was also scheduled to start his U.S. tour August 1st with his newest album, Step Back, set to release September second of this year, featuring ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry. Among his musical achievements, Johnny Winter produced three Grammy-Award winning albums for Muddy Waters and was also inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1988.

With his forthcoming album still set to release in September, here are a few T-Shirts for his fans to remember him by.

Lollapalooza 2014

The famous Lollapalooza turns 23 this year, known as one of the longest going music festivals in the United States and is only continuing to get bigger as time passes. This year, Eminem will be headlining the festival in Grant Park, along with Outkast and Calvin Harris, just name a few, so there’s no wonder why tickets have been sold out for months now. Aside from your normal Music Festival experience, there are a ton of other attractions to keep you as well as your screaming children occupied.

Kids ages 10 and under get in for free, and are able to hit up “Kidzapalooza” for free also. This festival within a festival, will feature live shows for the kids as well as multiple children oriented music workshops and snack spots.
 The Grub

With Chicago’s own celeb chef, Graham Elliot hand selecting each of the local restaurants/food being served in ChowTown there is no question there will be some of the best Chicago food spots on site available for dining. From your average Chicago style hot dogs and pizza, to your not so average Lobster Corn Dogs and Spicy Mongolian Beef Baos , there will be a little something for every to “chow” on.

Now getting back to the real reason you’re all going, the music. With well over 50 different acts performing in just 3-day span, you can expect to get enough concerts under your belt for the rest of the year. And you will also probably need some cool Band/Artist merchandise to rock at the shows. As always, we’ve got you covered on that end. Let us know who you are most looking forward to seeing in the comment section and check out a few tees I picked below.

Imaginary Foundation’s Classics

The Imaginary Foundation wasn’t always known for their mind boggling, yet intellectual artwork presented in the form of clothing and accessories. They started as a group of people in Switzerland studying new ways of thinking and the power of the huma mind’s imagination. Now they are one of the top clothing brands pushing the imagination’s limits on what can possibly be thought of, all while leading the industry in their popularized sublimated clothing. Here we will take a look back at their original screen printed graphics that started it all for their apparel endeavors.

Infinite Tee

The Infinite Tee was one of IF’s first designs, featuring a black and white image of a man smoking a cigarette. His smoke gradually fades into a colorful image of galaxy/black hole in space.
Doorway Tee

Another original featuring a “doorway” with the “IF” logo on the door, opening to a grass field with trees at the end. All of which are lit up by the stars and planets in the sky.
Nostalgic Mood Tee

The Nostalgic Mood tee is a top-to-bottom screen printed image featuring the silhouette of a man sitting in a chair smoking a pipe (possibly on the moon judging by the color of the background he’s sitting on) with his smoke creating a scenery of stars as it rises. The sitting man’s silhouette is also filled with stars.
Gutter Tee
This Gutter Tee features a bright and colorfully detailed image of an astronaut sitting on the sidewalk in a “gutter”. Below the image reads, ” we are all in the gutter. But some of us are looking up at the stars.”
The Opening Tee

Here’s another “doorway” graphic, this time featuring a man opening a door into what appears to be an array of colorful digital imagery almost in the form of wireframe. Maybe the underlying message may be referring to the beginning of the future or the advancement in technology? I’ll let you decide.
