Toms Shoes Sizing Guide – Finding the Right Size

Since 2006, Toms has come out with a variety of footwear styles for men, women and kids and has given more than 35 million pairs of shoes to children in need.  Here is a guide to finding your perfect-fititng pair so you can help Toms help others.

Toms Shoes run true to size which means that they are sized according to the US standard. This also means that Toms don’t fit smaller or larger than a standard shoe and are only available in medium width. When looking at the insoles of a pair of Toms, you will notice a letter and a number on the inside sole of the shoe. The number indicates the size and the letter indicates whether it is sized “M” for men, “W” for women or kids (“Y” for youth or “T” for tiny).   The “W” does NOT stand for wide.  Below is a detailed shot of one of each of the different size of Toms. If you zoom in the pic you will see the letter.

If you are usually in-between shoe sizes, I recommend going with the smaller size because within a few days they will stretch slightly to conform to your feet.

Knowing how to go from men’s to women’s sizing and vice versa. For example if a guy wants the Women’s Classic Toms in Pink Glitter (don’t worry you’re secret’s safe with us) you would add 1.5 to your size to get the women’s size. So if you, the dude, wear a 10 you would need to order a women’s 11.5. Get it? Just reverse it if you want to go from women’s to men, subract 1.5 from the women’s size to get the men’s size. Keep in mind that men’s shoes run slightly wider than women’s shoes.

To give you a better idea on sizing I interviewed a couple people at work to see what size Toms shoes they wear and what size do they normally wear with other brands.

The Dude, AKA Fafa: Normally wears size 11 for most of his branded shoes. Also wears a size 11 in Toms.

Chopra (Female): Normally wears either a size 7.5 or 8 in all her shoes. She is a size 7.5 for toms (possibly because of the stretch factor!)

Monica (Female, seems obvious but you can never be too sure these days) :  Normally wears a size 7 in all her shoes. She is still a 7 in toms! Unless you want to hook her up with a free pair in which case she can go up or down half a size.

Anonymous male co-worker : Wears 12 for everything, including toms.

The general consensus between the staff here at Dress Code: order the size you normally wear for most of your shoes and you should be ready to stomp!

You may also need to compare sizes in other countries. Here is a chart for US, UK, EU, and Japanese sizes for men, women and kids:

How to Rock TOMS SHOES

Do you love Toms Shoes, but have no idea what to wear them with??? Prepare to be enlightened you social activist you! This guide is meant to help both males and females rock some activist shoes. If you weren’t aware already, for every pair of Toms Shoes you purchase the company gives a pair of shoes to someone in need. So, not only do you get a fresh pair of kicks, but someone who actually needs shoes gets a pair too!

For the LADIES:  Toms Shoes are super easy to wear. Treat ‘em just like you would with any other flats. Make sure you match though, red and orange will never be a thing. Cuffing your pants with these shoes will always look good, but isn’t a must. Just make sure your pants aren’t too long and touch the ground.

If you wear Toms, then you’re guaranteed to have paparazzi follow you everywhere you go ;)

For the GUYS: Let’s be honest, Toms are hard to pull off if you’re a guy. My best advice would be to wear them with shorts that don’t reach the knee or slim fit pants. If you’re going to wear them with pants make sure you can see your ankles, though.

(^not a purse)

This goes to both guys and gals: DO NOT WEAR SOCKS WITH TOMS SHOES!!! (well actually you can wear socks, but they have to be no-show socks)

Style Guide: Sperry TopSiders

Even if you don’t consider yourself to be a sailor you should consider gettin’ yourself a pair of hip Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes. These shoes will give you some much needed grandpa swagger, but only if you wear them right!

Rule #1: NO SOCKS! Simple as that. Anyone who’s actually sailed the seven seas will tell you the same thing.

Rule #2: While wearing Sperry’s with shorts it’s imperative you keep the shorts short!!! If they touch your knee or go past your knee, then reconsider your shorts. You also might want to reconsider your entire wardrobe if you wear shorts past the knee.

I bet that lemonade tastes reeeaaal good.

^he swears it’s a sachel, but we all know it’s a just a purse…

Rule #3: If you’re wearing Sperry’s with long pants, then cuff ‘em. Your ankles should be showing! If you were actually sailing the seven seas you wouldn’t want your pants to get all wet. Ask Popeye he’ll tell ya how it is!

6 Pairs of Shoes at Dress Code Under $80

Let’s face it. None of us like dressing up or “getting fancy” for family functions or formal events. But instead of being the guy that shows up to your buddies’ wedding reception in an old cut-sleeve tee from your favorite gym, sweats and ratty thong sandals, you CAN get dressed for your next big event without spending $1K on a suit you’ll never wear again. So that’s why I went ahead and threw together a list of the best casual shoes under $80. To the dude debating if his one and only pair of Sperrys can withstand another “formal” outing, this is for you.

Canvas

Vans Authentics aren’t the only canvas shoe out there, people. Keep your casual style with the Lacoste L27 ($44.85) or Vans Zapato Del Barco C&L ($64.95).

Leather

You can always count on leather when looking for a casual shoe to “dress up” in. Try a pair of Volcom Vultures ($75) or Lacoste Wykens ($70.50) with your formal ensemble.

Other Options

Keep it classy, while saving some cash to order a pizza after the nasty salmon they served at the reception, with the Macbeth Gatsby ($48.71)or the Suede Mckinley from KR3W ($70.40)

Black Sabbath x Converse Capsule

Heavy Metal Kicks

Black Sabbath is arguably the best Metal Band in history, known as the pioneers of Metal after their induction into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. And with the band still going strong on tour for their latest studio Album, 13it only made sense to team back up with Converse for the release of their second capsule collection of sneakers.

Details:

Black Sabbath x Converse

The collection is made up of five unique sneakers, three of which are offered in the classic Chuck Taylor All-Star Hi silhouette. The inspiration behind the collection is genius in my opinion. Commemorating their recent reunion for their newest album, 13, as well as the return of their crazy lead singer and living legend, Ozzy Osbourne, Converse uses their forever iconic artwork from their albums being used on the shoes. The die-hard Metal Heads out there might even consider this pack an “archive collection”.

Converse CT Hi Black Sabbath:

CT Hi Black SabbathFirst up, we’ve got their Debut Album that paved the way for their legacy featured on a black CT Hi. The entire upper uses the cover art accompanied by “Black Sabbath” embroidered in white complimenting the tongue, with the same black and white Sabbath logo making up the  canvas sock-liner of the shoe.

Converse CT Hi Never Say Die:

CT HI Paranoid For those of you that want to buy a pair from this collection, but  enjoy simple shoe colorways, The Never Say Die CT Hi is the pair for you. Classic black upper with the  “Black Sabbath” logo from the cover art embroidered again in white, but this time a bit larger across the heel. A collage of black and white photos of the band members is used as the sock-liner.

Featured on a black CT Hi is the “Paranoid” Album art on the upper of the shoe. Also running parallel down the heel tab it is embroidered in purple. Keeping relevant to the designs and cover art, “Black Sabbath” also is on the tongue of these in that same purple stitching. Be sure to compliment your pair with a Sabbath Band Tee when you finally decide on which pair fits your style.
